|All the religious systems lined up with their sides and prayed blessings upon their respective nations, the actions of the Vatican being so notori­ously in favor of Germany and Austria that by the treaty of London of 1915 between Italy, Russia, France and Britain the pope was barred from any part in the peace negotiations.
